J WAGNER/Disappear: Wagner is certainly a poster boy for the new paradigm. With his latest album being a fan funded/sourced session, the transplanted New Mexican has made himself at home, part and parcel, in the Texas music scene while his songs get covered by Victoria Williams and featured in programs like "Californication". Call him folkie, call him Americana, this top shelf singer/songwriter would be right at home in any generation standing toe to toe with the best and brightest of the time. The kind of progressive folk that can't keep fans away, this session will hit you right in the gut, in a very good way. Killer stuff from a voice just ripe to be heard wider.
" The plaintive call of the open road echoes through the new CD by J. Wagner, "disappear", featuring 11 songs that are intimate yet expansive, lovely and open-ended. This is my Outskirts Featured Album of the Week."
Number # 1 best bet for Austin TX
"A Texas Folk Music Staple"
J Wagner's album Disappear echo's the warm feel of a southwestern landscape tinged with bittersweet memories. And that fits perfect with his voice, which is both strong and plaintive. Butch Kara KZGM FM
"Featured artist and song of the day"
All I have to say is remember the name, J Wagner. This blend of songwriting and vocals doesn't come around very often, and when it does, you just have to be thankful that he picked up his acoustic guitar and decided to share his songs.
4 stars for J. Wagner, "Disappear"
Wagner's well-constructed stories initially wash over and then infiltrate your conscienceness so that you just want to listen over and over again.
J Wagner is a songwriter's songwriter. His songs have the sound of love found, love lost and life beginning again. He is a true troubadour in the tradition of Bob Dylan and Towns Van Zandt.
